Dr. Cherry,
I was wondering what you thought of vegetarianism? There seems to be a lot of talk about staying away from meat today, but I have heard that becoming a vegetarian could put you at risk of being deficient in protein and B vitamins. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

The Mediterranean diet provides a wonderful balance, with protein coming from nuts, beans/legumes, low/non-fat dairy and grains daily, and fish, skinless chicken and eggs a few times a week. Red meat (and then only trimmed, lean cuts) is eaten rarely. Soy is another excellent source of protein.
