Hot and burning mouth and tongue

In recent months I have been experienceing hot, burning sensation in mouth and gums and on tongue along with some ulcers that come and go along with occasional fever and swolen neck glands. I have been to my family practice physician and dentist and have clean bill-of-health except for this "dry, and painful mouth". I have taken Zyrtec (without -D) for allergies for years but have noticed increasing mouth dryness in recent months. I am also on natural thyroid and Betoptic-s for glaucoma-- no other medications.
I have read that there may be evidence that these symptoms may be connected to yeast infection (of which I have no other symptoms) or possibly a lack of estrogen in post-menopausal women of which I am very long 'post-menopausal'. If adding estrogen is an answer, what type of natural estrogen would be safe to take and how much ? I suppose this would be trial and error but this is so debilitating at times I am willing to do whatever it takes to remedy this affliction. Thank you for your help. SJA
