Embarking on the pathway to healing

God's best is that we walk in health all the days of our lives. If we are open to Him, the Holy Spirit will show us the things we need to do to walk on this path toward divine health and the role nutritional supplements should play for us whether we are healthy at the moment or need to address certain health issues. God's plan for healthy living has always combined what we can do in the natural with what God can do in the supernatural, so let's begin to see what we can start today to embark on this pathway to healing.

Unfortunately, medical advice can’t be given through this website, only information, support, and our prayers for your healing. You may find Dr. Cherry’s Digestion Video helpful.

The relationship between H-pylori and GERD is complicated, but it is not believed that h-pylori causes GERD; it may possibly protect against it. Some studies have shown that patients who are treated for H- pylori can actually develop symptoms of GERD after the bacteria has been killed.

The common lifestyle recommendations for alleviating GERD include:
• Keep a diary or heartburn log. Keep track of when heartburn hits and the specific activities that seem to trigger the incidents.
• Avoid alcohol and spicy, fatty or acidic foods
• Eat smaller meals, and eat slowly
• Don’t eat close to bedtime
• Lose weight if needed
• Wear loose-fitting clothes
• Raise the head of your bed so that your head and chest are higher than your feet
• Manage stress and anxiety

Also, PPI’s can affect the absorption of nutrients, so a daily nutritional supplement program may be especially important for you.

As always when dealing with medical conditions – especially if you are on prescribed medications – consult your healthcare professional before beginning or changing a supplement program.

Our prayers are with you as you find your pathway to healing for this problem. God Bless!

I have had fissures for several months now (on the inside). So far, I have taken prescriptions Analpram and Lidocaine and so far, I'm not healing. I am also trying to eat more fruits and vegetables and lots and lots of water but I'm not healing. I've been taking Colace until I heal. Does anyone have any suggestions? The doctor said I don't need surgery at this point. Is there any of Dr. Cherry's vitamins that I could take that would help me heal? I bought Vitamin B Complex today because I heard that could help in the healing. I have lost 22 pounds just because I want to have as few BM's as possible. Help!!

Is there alternative herbs for predisone & other steriods? I am also taking Plaquenil, for lupus & rheumatoid arthritis.

Both are quite bad for the vision, I'm told.

Thank You
Ethel Harris

There may not be any actual herbal replacements for the potent medications prednisone and plaquenil. But because lupus and RA are inflammatory conditions, adding nutrients, compounds, and herbs and that have anti-inflammatory properties could reduce your inflammation, possibly getting you to the point where you my need less or lower amounts of the medications.

Omega-3 fatty acids are among the most powerful natural anti-inflammatories. Others include Indian frankincense (boswellia serrata), turmeric root/curcumin, sour cherry fruit, holy basil leaf, bromelain, quercitin, and white willow bark. Joint Support and Duramet each contain some of these extracts.

Please see the articles Foods to Fight Inflammation and Dr. Cherry's Mediterranean Diet Guidelines on this website that give dietary recommendations for foods and a way of eating that fights inflammation.

Free radical damage also plays a significant role in SLE, so be sure your daily supplement program includes a full range of antioxidants.

Talk to your doctor about any products you take so he/she can monitor your results. Also, the potential retinal damage from plaquenil is actually very rare, so hopefully that will not be an issue for you.

God Bless
